Recently, lots of  people ask me whether SAP Master Data Governance (MDG) is only about financial  master data objects, like chart of accounts. Is SAP done with MDG  and the scope provided with ERP Enhancement Package 4? 
One answer to this  question is that there are of course many more master data objects in  the financial domain that require a governed create and change process.  So why shouldn’t we extend the scope of MDG for financial data  “vertically” to cover more objects? At the heart, MDG has been built to  cover many of those as well.
Secondly, we designed MDG to serve as the foundation  for several master data governance applications, spanning several  domains. What about the domains that have a big demand for governed data  maintenance, like supplier data and material data? Can the solution  also expand in this “horizontal” dimension? Again, MDG is capable of  supporting more master data applications than it does today as well.
And third, MDG together  with the proven and combined power of the SAP NetWeaver application  server technologies can serve as a platform for self-defined, custom  objects.
To sum it  up, with Enhancement Package 4 and its basic support for the financial  domain the story just began.
